About Me

Hello and thanks for visiting,

My name is Gary and I am the creator of How-To-Wire-It.com. I started my website in May of 2008 with the intension of sharing a passion which I have had my entire life, and that is wiring. Don’t ask me why I have such of an obsession with wires, but I do. My mother always said that ever since I’ve been able to walk, I would find things with wires and play with them and tear them apart, figure out how they worked and would be totally fascinated.

This fascination has led me through my life of wires. I went to vocational school in Dayton, Ohio my junior and senior year to study electrical trades. My junior year was dedicated to residential house wiring and by the end of the year, our class wired an entire house that the carpentry class had built. It was a very memorable experience for me. My senior year was dedicated to industrial motor controls. This involved creating circuits using a variety of different voltages and learning the concepts of relay logic and programmable controllers. For those who don’t understand any of this, it’s basically machine controls with pushbuttons, lights, relays, motors etc. What I was learning in my senior year paved the course for the rest of life.

After graduating, I got a job with a local automation company that made custom machines for the aerospace industry. I started out assembling and wiring the control panels that would be the brains and heart of the machine. As I gained more and more experience and knowledge, I moved up into the engineering aspect which involves designing the circuits, layouts of the entire controls package and programming the machines to do what they are designed to do. Wires, wires, wires. My whole life as an Electrical Controls Engineer has been defined by wires.

I now run and operate my own business which involves everything above. My services are contracted to machine shops and tool & die shops where they build the mechanical portion of the machine and I do the design & build of the electrical controls.

I started this website as a hobby to share my passion and knowledge. Through out life, I would always be asked if I would do minor (and sometimes major) electrical jobs around the house. Friends, family and their friends and family would always have a need for this information that I so happened to have an abundance of, so I decided to create a website and share my knowledge to those who are in need of this information. So that’s when I started How-To-Wire-It.com.

Now my site is NOT dedicated to basic house wiring. It was created to cover topics of just about anything that has wires. I know that’s a very broad range of items but I’ve got the rest of my life to add things as I go. I started out with what I find as the most demanding subjects based on internet search and I will just keep adding more and more as life goes on.

I've never really considered myself much of a writer but creating this website (and the other websites I have) has been and will remain a truly fun experience. Creating something based around your passion and at the same time, creating a constant stream of income is very exciting. I hope you have enjoyed my site!

Now, If you would like to know how I made this website profitable, where you can create a website and get paid to write about YOUR own passion, then I recommend you read my page about Solo Build It

Have A Great Day!
